39 Weeks, 4 Days

What a mix of emotions have come our way this week! I was completely unaware of the bodily difficulties that come with being 8 and 5/6 months pregnant. I can no longer: tie my own shoes, put on socks, sleep between the hours of 3 and 5 am, go any longer than 30 minutes (absolute maximum) without using the restroom or sit in any one position for longer than 20 minutes at a time. My feet hurt, my back hurts and it's getting harder and harder to think of things to do while Seth is at work. Every time I see someone I know or speak to someone we know, they say, "So, no baby yet?" Nope. Very much still pregnant.

Despite these inconveniences, however, I've felt pretty well. I'm in fairly good spirits most of the time, it is fun to putz around home and not go to work, I've read several books and Seth and I have gotten to go on some really good, long walks each night. I really wouldn't complain, however, if the baby decided to come tonight. :)

This week also brought a pleasant surprise: a new friend. A couple of weeks ago, our church held a baby shower for us and we met a whole bunch of new, great people. Well, in the midst of that, we met Meagan and her son, Zachary. Meagan and Zachary have since leant us a bassinet, talked with us several times on the phone, gone for a wonderfully long and fun walk and have offered to give me a pedicure. Hopefully I'll get to cash in on that offer here soon.

Anyway, here's what I look like today (sorry it's blurry, I haven't figured out the focus on our new camera when you use the self-timer function):

P.S. This morning's appointment with my midwife revealed no real change since last week. Sadly, we're probably looking toward being pregnant another week or so. Hopefully, this baby won't wait too long!

I was going to call you this afternoon to check it, but I would have been one of those "so, no baby yet" people. Good thing I hadn't yet picked up the phone.

We are thinking about you and getting VERY EXCITED. I can't wait to know your baby... is it a boy or girl... what's its name? So many questions are about to be answered. We are getting anxious. I can only imagine how you feel. By this time in my "pregnancy," my baby was three weeks old. =( I can't even say I know how you're feeling.

Anyway, good luck with everything. We'll talk with you soon.

Love,
Us!

For me, it was the last couple of weeks that seemed to take the longest. You will make it through! Before you know it, your baby will be here and you won't remember how long it seemed to take. I tried to plan lots of fun things to do in the last few days...lunch/coffee with a friend, a nice dinner out, that kind of thing.

Oh, I still remember all too well how you're feeling right now. I guess I can't expect to have forgotten in just 3 months how much I felt like I was going to go mad. My midwife told me once that it happens all too often that a woman will get checked and not have any dilation or effacement and will go into labor 3 hours later. You just never know! Here's hoping that little Tippin decides it's time VERY VERY soon!

How exciting! Time is drawing closer. Hang in there...I to remember those sleepless nights, aches and pains, and not being able to tie my shoes (or a classroom full of 5 year olds shoes :)). All will be forgoten when you see and hear your little one for the first time! Looking forward to a call or e-mail SOON! :)

Hi Bethany! I am getting so excited for you to have your baby! I feel connected to you because our due dates were only a week apart. I hope he/she decides to come soon!

Thanks everyone! I think each day gets harder... and imagining another couple of weeks just makes me want to cry. But, we're hanging in. I'm trying to plan fun activities and Seth and I got to enjoy and absolutely BEAUTIFUL Utah day today. We took 2 really long walks and did a lot of work in the yard. We've also gone out to coffee and for dinner several times in the last few days. I'm thankful for the good couple time we're getting, but we're definitely ready when our baby decides it's time! Of course, we'll keep you all posted.

Hee Hee! I'm still in the running for the Baby arrival date! My guess was May 1... Grace's 6th Birthday!

She was two weeks early, but I can empathize with all your discomforts. I also had wicked-bad heart burn. I was SO thrilled when it stopped the second she was out!

By the way, I'm glad you have finally started to LOOK pregnant! ;)

Love and Blessings!
