41 Weeks and 1 Day

Hey all -

We're still pregnant and still waiting. It's getting harder not to cry all the time. It's been a long time since my feet and legs didn't ache. It's getting harder to believe my body actually knows what it's doing and is in fact going to go into labor here sometime soon. I don't even know what to pray for these days... the words just don't come... instead I have tears. I'm nervous for our appointment tomorrow for the ultrasound and continued talk of induction with our midwife. I'm totally torn - unsure of where the balance between the baby's health and my mental health lies. Hopefully, either this kid will finally decide to come today, or I'll receive some much needed renewed hope and patience before tomorrow morning.

On the cheerful side, though, the weather here is gorgeous. It's hovered in the mid and upper 70s the last few days and the skies have been open and beautifully blue. So, I've walked and walked and walked.

I also sewed two bags - one yesterday and one this morning. They were pretty fun. I think I'll put the sewing machine away now, though, because today I'm on another "I need the house clean" kick. The mop is calling me.

Yesterday's tan cord handbag. (The materials were originally purchased to make Christmas presents... but that obviously didn't happen...)

Today's fun flower bag. It's always easier to make the 2nd of whatever, so this one went really quickly (and thus was more fun). I'm really happy with this one - I love the fabric I was able to find for it. Also, I used a stiffer craft interfacing for this one, and lengthened the straps, so I'm happier with its shape. I think having a patterned fabric on the outside makes it cuter, too.

My mom flies into SLC tomorrow. I'm conflicted in my emotions about this. Part of me looks forward to the companionship while I wait and part of me continues to feel a lot of pressure because her intention was to come out to meet her first grandchild and there still isn't a grandchild to meet.

Thanks again everyone for the phone calls and emails. They do help the days move a little more quickly.

Those bags are really cute! Did you make a diaper bag for yourself? Keep your chin up, this baby will come. For now, enjoy the fact that you can do sewing projects on a whim as these relaxing days won't be back for a loooong time!

As scary as the thought of being induced may be (believe me, I cried ALL day when my midwife discussed it with me), I hope that the fact that you WILL have a baby in your arms in a week or less is comforting. I know it's so hard not to think that it's never going to end when you've reached your limit. Just remember to keep your energy up; don't overdo it with the cleaning!

Both those bags are adorable! The talent you have amazes me!!

My cousin was induced a month ago because her blood pressure was getting high and she was at risk. (It was a week before her due date.) After they induced... 4 hours later she had a baby in her arms! So inducing could be a good thing!!! (This was her first baby too.)

Alright friend - hang in there! I have never seen a permantly pergnant girl walking around... so that baby is bound to come out. : )

Enjoy your sunshine!!

I'm with everyone...those bags are adorable and your creativity is amazing!! I really wish I would have had you teach me how to use a sewing machine when we lived in Oregon....I haven't got a clue how they work!

Between the amazing oneies you and Seth made, and the bags- I see a new career (or a hobby that pays well for you)! We are praying for your emotional well being!

Hang in there! Being induced really isn't that bad! I was induced with Maddie and it was just fine!:) She was born very quickly! Just think it will get the little Tippin in the right frame of mind to leave his/her cozy home and you will have your little angel in your arms!
I LOVE the bags! You should start selling these and making a little money! I would buy one...or like one of your friends mentioned...diaper bags would be so cute!
Hang in there!! we are praying for you! Baby will be here soon! :)

Thanks everyone! Janell - I made the bags from a pattern. I wish I was a good enough seamstress to be confident to make something like that up, but because I had planned to make the first one as a Christmas present, I wanted to make sure it would turn out well. :) I tend to use patterns and then mess with them as I've done one - make them better, you know.

I didn't make my diaper bag because I was given a BEAUTIFUL one as a baby shower gift... I had previously thought about it, though. Now I'd really like to make Seth and I each a sling carrier... we'll see.

If this kid continues to stick it out, I may have to start taking bag orders, just to have something to do. :)

And Natalie - sewing machines are easy once you get the hang of them. I'm sure there is someone in Indiana who could give you a crash course! Or, maybe we'll come to visit sometime. :) Seth and I were both really bummed to miss graduation.
