The Latest

We just got home from our latest appointment with our midwife. Unfortunately, there still isn't any great, pressing news. But, I do feel a little bit better than I did yesterday - mentally, I mean. The baby is healthy, moving around like the little mover and shaker he/she has always been, and totally in position to make his/her debut, dropped down even further now. I'm still only dilated to 1+, but am now about 80% effaced. We were forced to make an appointment for post-date ultrasound testing and NST next Wednesday along with another appointment with the midwife. At that point we'll start talking about inducing.

Now, having to get induced is my biggest fear - and has been this whole pregnancy. I just really hope my body decides to do its thing here soon.

The appointment ended with: "Remember, labor can start at any point, without any real warning signs. This weekend would be a great time to have a baby. See you in labor." Whether or not it really happens, it was good to end the appointment on a hopeful note because I must admit, my 3 and 4 am thoughts tend toward the unhopeful "this kid is never going to come" genre.

I know you don't feel like it's much progress, but it is still progress....80% effaced is good :) And hearing that the baby is in the right position and has dropped is also great news! You really are getting closer!!!

Glad to hear of the progress! And yes, dilation can happen SO quickly. And also keep in mind that your water can break at any point. The thought of inducing is definitely scary, but it sounds like they're giving you more time to have it start on it's own. They weren't going to let me get to where you are now. While I never had to have it done, the NST and the ultrasound should be a good thing. That way, you can get to see that everything really is just fine and that the baby just wants to bake a little bit longer. I'm so proud of you and the baby is going to be here any day now.

That's good progress! I hope that you go into labor naturally, but if it makes you feel better - you are 1cm farther dilated and 80% more effaced than I was when I was induced - and my induction went really smoothly and quickly. Ultrasounds at this stage are cool because the baby is so big that you can't really tell what things are. I hope that you go into labor soon!

Thanks for sharing the news! I have our gifts all ready- One for baby girl Tippin, and the other for baby boy Tippin! Of course, if there are twins of opposite sex, you get both (that at least had to bring a small smile to your face!) Good news: labor is quick and well worth it, no matter what happens or how it happens. I was induced, and look at me- I'm still here!!! Love you tons and we'll be there in June!
